For over Fifty Years, M-One Specialties has been a family owned and operated business specializing in plumbing repair and replacement parts. In 1969 George and Phyllis Mattena started M-One out of their family home. Phyllis ran the business during the day while George worked at another job. After working all day George would come home and continue working on the financial end and purchasing for their business. Eventually George was able to quit his other job to focus full time on running M-One. As the business became more established, people would ask why he didn’t move to a better location. His response was simple. He loved the West Side and he would never leave. M-One has remained a “family business” for fifty-five years. Employing not only Mattena family members but also local west side community members and multiple West High Graduates who have become honorary family members. George and Phyllis have both since passed (2017 & 2022). Their legacy lives on as their 3rd generation family continues to run the business, along with their exceptional and knowledgeable employees. With the support of the local community and word of mouth M-One continues to grow as a successful plumbing resource. Even with the continual expansion across the country M-One’s roots are firmly planted in Salt Lake City’s west side. Its heart will always beat here.
